HYDRATE OR DIE-DRATE
Summer has officially begun but this past weekend made it seem like summers been here for a while. The temperature was high and humidity was higher so how do you stay hydrated? Here are a couple tips on how to stay hydrated throughout the summer.
First, women should drink 2.7 liters of water a day, while men should drink 3.7 liters of water every day. Obviously the heavier you are, the more water you want, the lighter you are, the less water you want. You don’t want to drown yourself. You don’t have to worry about drinking that many cups of water though. There’s water in the food you eat too. 20% of the water your intaking is through the food you eat. Eat these foods for other ways to increase you chances of staying hydrated.
- Watermelon
- Cucumbers
- Cherries
- Grape Tomatoes
- Yogurt
- Brown rice
Some drinks will dehydrate you. Those drinks that you should stay away from are:
- Iced coffee
- Alcohol
How do you know your hydrated? Check your Urine. The lighter the color, the better hydrated you are. A hydrated person should be using the restroom every hour or two.
If you’re working out or going to be outside, start hydrating before. After a workout of more than an hour you need to not only drink water but also electrolytes.
